COP28 concluded on December 13, 2023, after two weeks of intense negotiations in Expo City Dubai, UAE. The pressure was on this year’s COP to deliver on several key issues, notably the operationalization of a Loss & Damage Fund, the Global Stocktake, and the Global Goal on Adaptation.

The UN Africa Climate Week and the inaugural Africa Climate Summit will both take place during September 4-8, 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya. ACW is an annual UN Regional Climate Week that brings together policymakers, public and private sector representatives, and CSOs to discuss climate-related challenges.

On June 24, 2022, the Netherlands released its new development cooperation strategy, ‘Doing what the Netherlands is good at.’ The strategy centers on the intersection between trade and development priorities, putting US$90 million, or roughly 8%, of the increased 2023 ODA budget (US$1.1 billion in total) toward the nexus of these two areas.
